Jeffrey Crow is currently a student at the University of Central Florida, where he is obtaining his Studio Art B.A. He was born in Punta Gorda, Florida into a fisherman family. He is a 7th generation southwest Floridian and takes many inspirations from the world he grew up around. He started oil painting when he was 15, self taught until college. He considers himself a visual poet, with many paintings touching on death, desire, nature and spirituality. A lot of his paintings are about the fishing industry of Florida, specifically the southwest of Florida. Between red tide, hurricanes, and government decisions, the fishing industry of Florida on the Gulf of Mexico has decreased by over 30% the last decade. Besides environmental inspirations, he is inspired by the work of Zdzisław Beksiński, H.R Giger, William Blake, and René Magritte. He desires to continue his education, pursuing a masters after graduating.
